Patio extension with raised flower beds

A young family were looking to improve their outside space. Starting with two separate patios one in natural stone and one in cast concrete slabs, our task was to make sense of the two areas uniting the terraces aesthetically enabling one sitting area and one cooking area with spaces for their young children to sit and play in-between.

We drew some ideas and the chosen design used new softwood sleepers to create raised beds and a step to transition to a new natural stone sitting area extended over the old concrete slabs, these were flanked by the new raised flower beds bordered by  new soft wood sleepers.

Both patios were wet pointed to ensure long service life.

The resulting design was both practical and beautiful. Cant wait to see what the clients as keen gardeners choose to plant.
